This artistic research project (formerly known as Seaweed Etc) aims to create a platform that documents the ecological crisis affecting coastal communities, land, and the knowledge rooted in seaweed, the sea, and coastal environments. By combining storytelling, narratives, and visuals, the project emphasizes a sensorial methodology that brings lived experiences to the forefront. We believe that documenting these stories should be a collective effort, not the work of a few. It requires many voices, hands, and feet coming together to redistribute, recollect, and preserve these narratives. Through artistic research and the study of myth, we seek to reconnect with community stories that are slowly disappearing.
Based in Bali, Indonesia, this project does not follow a membership model but instead thrives on project team. For the daily basis work such as administration and regular documentation work are consisting of curator and artist(s). Along the process, the working team comes from various backgrounds, practices, and mediums including curatorial work, photography, illustration, and film. All team members work closely together, engaging with and experiencing the place where we are creating our work.
